Saraiva Classics

The Brazilian agency REX Design has developed a contemporary graphic project
for the covers of “Clássicos Saraiva” (“Saraiva Classics”) book collection, that brings together 24 titles of classic literature masterpieces, adopted by most schools in Brazil.

Getting away from the category predominant visual code, the agency has created a contemporary identity and much more connected to youth current universe, bringing vibrant colours, sinuous forms and less objective illustrations. “The starting point was to change teenagers vision related to literature at school - from something not interesting - and up-date the visual language of that segment”, comments Gustavo Piqueira, creative director of the project and REX Design’s partner.

With the Collection flexible structure, each book becomes unique, once it plays with different colours and organic forms that has infinite combinations, with caricatures of the respective authors and fluctuant titles positions.

As recognition of the innovative design, the covers of “Clássicos Saraiva” book collection has been selected by AIGA (American Institute of Graphic Arts) for the 50 Books / 50 Covers Competition, being one of the best editorial graphic projects in 2008, among almost 900 participant projects around the world.

Still this year, the collection is going to be exposed together with the awarded books at AIGA National Design Center in NY and at other exhibitions around the United States.

Black Magic

Very cool personal work sent in by d b D E S I G N S
The name Black Magic Coffee Company was in discussion for a coffee shop that was to be based in the financial district in Frankfurt Germany. Unfortunately that never happened. But, we liked the idea and the name so much we decided to design the package - just for fun. We were looking for that kind of evil, forbidden look. These were to be produced in high gloss, re-sealable bags.

Emosi Shop Sales Pack

Sent in and cutely designed by Imaginarte

This sales dossier is sent to potential selling points to make them fall in love with the “Emosi” concept toys. If you feed them with the included cutout thematic “wishes”, these “fabric psychologists” will help you with the problems and stress of everyday life. The packaging has been conceived as a real “eye-candy” with a glittery pink surface. What you can find inside is a well-packaged Emosi toy and a dossier formed by independent sheets that allow a great degree of customization depending on the recipient.

TCHO

Designed by Edenspiekermann. This packaging design won the Academy of Chocolate Gold Award in February 2009 and a Gold European Design Award in May 2009.

TCHO – that’s highest quality fair trade chocolate manufactured using the most modern technology in a gigantic warehouse in the San Francisco docks. The challenge for Edenspiekermann is to give this gourmet’s experience a face. The possibilities are endless, as TCHO is still in the starting blocks.
Approach
While TCHO are busy testing the optimal taste directions of their chocolate, Edenspiekermann have created the perfect stage for the brand presentation. Every aspect has a uniform design approach, from on- and offline design to logo, colour scheme and typography right through to packaging. The corporate design incorporates all printed products – from press kits to flyers – as well as advertisements, posters, conference presentations and the tcho.com website with its integrated online shop.
Result
Identity couldn’t be any clearer or more emphatic. TCHO is boldly positioning itself as a brand of high quality chocolate, self assured and modern. Its fanfare entrance caused ripples among the media and in the blogosphere.
